Program Associate Dr. Sarah Sayeed represented ICNY at the Buncher Conference “Global Interfaith | Intercultural Conference on Humanitarian Work,” taking place in London from June 27-29 and co-sponsored by Faiths Forum for London, ICNY, Office for Religious Life – University of Princeton, Surrey-Multifaith Centre, JDC-ICCD and CEDAR.
The Global Faith Conference on Humanitarian Work aims to bring together professionals and leaders working with and within faith communities.
This conference is devoted to creating an interfaith and intercultural network in humanitarian work, how we best respond to giving aid to those with different cultural and religious values, the challenges this poses to both donor communities and recipient communities. This will bring together faith-based and other humanitarian providers from the major donor communities in north America, Europe, the Middle East and Japan.
The conference is focussing on two groups: those delivering emergency humanitarian relief / development programmes and volunteer overseas corps.
Following on from the success of the Buncher Interfaith Conference on Social Care in 2010 and Social Action in 2011, the conference will look at an exchange of best practice, leadership development and promote collaboration between communities to encourage them to deal with humanitarian challenges together.
