On Monday, June 12, as The Interfaith Center of New York celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a gala at the Tribeca Rooftop, we will be honoring two individuals and a community for their extraordinary work in the area of facilitating communication, understanding and respect between diverse peoples and communities. This honor is known as the “James Parks Morton” or JPM award, named after the Interfaith Center’s founder and chair emeritus.
This year, the gala will be hosted by a former JPM award-winner himself: the world-acclaimed high wire artist Philippe Petit. Mr. Petit gained fame for his high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City on August 6, 1974, and was the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentary “Man on Wire,” as well as the 2015 dramatic film “The Walk,” where he was played by the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Mr. Petit will emcee the ceremony honoring this year’s JPM awardees Preet Bharara, Ann Roberts Rockefeller, and the Sant’Egidio Community.
Tickets are available for purchase, and proceeds will help “#FundTheNext20” as The Interfaith Center of New York enters its third decade of service to our great city.
