Date: Sunday, September 10, 2017
Time: 1:00 – 5:00 pm
Location: JCC, 334 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10023
Join Jews, Christians, Muslims, and members of other faith-based groups as we come together for this walk for peace. Founded in response to 9/11 by Rabbi Ellen Lippmann of Congregation Kolot Chayeinu in Brooklyn and Debbie Almontaser, president of the Muslim Community Network, the walk has been held annually since 2002.
The walk celebrates community, encourages neighbors to become acquainted, and recognizes the role we each play in building a better world. We will begin at JCC Manhattan and view the Muslim in NY exhibit on display in the Laurie M. Tisch Gallery. After a brief welcome, we will visit the Islamic Cultural Center, Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, and the Fourth Universalist Society of New York. We will hear from a diverse group of faith leaders including Rabbi Roly Matalon and Reverend K. Karpen. View the walking route here.
The afternoon will end with a closing ceremony at the JCC, where refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
