On March 9th, elected officials, immigrant rights organizations, labor unions, faith leaders and community members will gather to show solidarity with the countless individuals affected by deportation, such as Ravi Ragbir, Director of the New Sanctuary Coalition of NYC.
City Council Members Jumaane Williams,Ydanis Rodriguez, and Daniel Dromm, and State Senator Gustavo Rivera will be in attendance. The event is co-sponsored by Brooklyn Defender Services, Detention Watch Network, Families for Freedom, the Immigrant Defense Project, LatinoJustice, The Legal Aid Society, Make the Road New York, MinKwon Center for Community Action, the New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York Immigration Coalition, the Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights, SEIU 32BJ and UnLocal Inc., and will be attended by many immigrant rights leaders, including those who must check-in to Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the threat of detention and deportation.
