Dear Faith leader,
Together, the Harlem Community Justice Center and the Interfaith Center of New York invite Harlem faith leaders to support young parolees and their families by joining the Re-Entry Family and Faith Circles of Support.
This is a two-year initiative by The Interfaith Center and HCJC that will support eligible parolees between the ages of 18-26 and their families before and after release. Harlem congregations and houses of worship are invited to engage parolees and their families in family oriented activities, services and referrals to provide them with a smoother return to society and hopefully- reduce the chance that they will return to jail.
A flyer describing the training can be found here:
42% of people on parole in New York City return to prison within three years. Helping formerly incarcerated individuals and their families will help to reduce the recidivism rate and engage the person and their family in nurturing relationships with those houses of worship which have already been called to serve. For more information on this initiative, contact Rev. Darren Ferguson at 212-870-3513 or Darren@interfaithcenter.org.
We need your community’s support! Please come to Faith Community Re-Entry Training where we look forward to hearing your ideas and learning about the resources you have to offer.
