ICNY Statement about Former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly
Having signed an amicus brief against the practice of stop and frisk in the Floyd case, The Interfaith Center of New York is appalled to hear former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly touting the days of those abusive practices that have now, under Commissioner Bratton, been shown to have little association with effective crime reduction. We as a city have edged our way forward in reducing racial and religious profiling. There is no need for Ray Kelly to take us back.
