(Washington, DC, Oct 5, 2011) – The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) welcomes the statement released today by prominent national Jewish leaders, condemning the recent burning of a mosque located in the Arab village of Tuba Zangaria in Upper Galilee. The mosque was also spray-painted with threatening graffiti.
The statement, which may be viewed in full below, reads in part: “As Jewish religious leaders, we state categorically that to intentionally destroy a mosque—or a shrine of any religious faith—is antithetical to the most basic values of Judaism and cannot be justified for any reason. Revenge attacks cannot be justified according to Jewish law, especially when directed against innocent people.”
