Jainism is an Indian religion that professes non-violence for all living beings. With origins dating back more than 2,500 years, there are about 4 million Jains in India today, and a growing presence in America and elsewhere.
Here in New York City, the Jain Center of America, New York opens their temple to the public, and invites you to tour the temple with volunteer Jain guides who will talk about Jain principles, and share some of the ways that Jains worship. Vegan refreshments will be served.

Directions: M/R train to Elmhurst Ave., or 7 train to 90th St./Elmhurst Ave.
Please note that visitors to the temple should be prepared to remove their shoes prior to entering. Women should cover their heads. Leather (such as belts) should also be removed, though wallets or other leather items which are not visible are permitted.
