Eyes and hearts worldwide are riveted on Afghanistan, and especially on its women. Dr. Sakena Yacoobi has pioneered Afghan girls’ education for many decades, and is the founder and director of The Afghan Institution of Learning. She has always known the risks, and continued to look for opportunities to pursue her dream: promoting access to education for women and children. Her work is now in jeopardy with the Taliban takeover, but ways simply must be found to move forward.
Dr. Yacoobi with speak with Rev. Chloe Breyer, the director of the Interfaith Center of New York. Rev. Breyer too has a deep personal commitment to ensuring that women have true opportunities to thrive, wherever they are. She is working with Dr. Yacoobi to press for greater humanitarian aid and identify positive avenues in this difficult time.
Dr. Yacoobi and Rev. Breyer will update us on the situation in Afghanistan, and on what they believe can and must be done, including ways for each of us to support Afghan women’s hopes for the future.
