NYC Faith Leader Conversation on Public Safety with Candidates for Governor & Lt. Governor Jumaane Williams and Ana Maria Archila

The Interfaith Center of NY, Mothers of The Nations U.S. ConnectNYC, The Council of African Imams, The Buddhist Council of New York and The Micah Institute were joined by diverse New York City faith leaders for an interactive conversation on the proposed Public Safety Plan of New York Governor Candidate Jumaane Williams and Lt. Governor Candidate Ana Maria Archila.  

The candidates went over their public safety agenda for the State of New York for diverse faith leaders. Particularly, candidates went over their 10-Point Plan for Safe and Thriving Communities. Their plan includes $1Billion of investment into gun violence prevention, youth programming and victims’ service programs. Moreover, building a statewide mental health infrastructure so New Yorkers can access mental health services. Their plan also calls for implementing a housing, jobs, and infrastructure plan in the neighborhoods with the highest amount of gun violence and overdose death. Striving towards ending the cycles of incarceration and instability by providing incarcerated and formerly incarcerated New Yorkers with support and resources for healthcare, employment, educational and reentry programs. As part of the program diverse Faith Leaders were able to pose questions and offer their feedback on the candidates’ public safety agenda.
