Catholic Partners

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York is a federation of 91 administered, sponsored and affiliated agencies that are diverse in administration and funding, but united by a common vision of human dignity and service.  Catholic Charities works in five program areas: Protecting and Nurturing Children and Youth, Strengthening Families and Resolving Crises, Supporting the Physically and Emotionally Challenged, Feeding the Hungry and Sheltering the Homeless.

Other Catholic Partners:

Teen Federation of Staten Island

Central Harlem Vicariate of the Archdiocese of New York

Muslim Partners

The NYC Muslim population is estimated to be between 600,000 and 850,000 with Muslim children making up 10% of students in city public schools.  However, there is no centralized organization like Catholic Charities providing social services to this ethnically and racially diverse religious community. Post 9/11, Muslim social services have begun to address immigration, discrimination, family and youth issues. Mosque-based charity collections also provide financial support for needy members of the community.  Thus, the partnerships developed involved both autonomous social service organizations and mosques.

Muslim Women’s Institute for Research and Development (MWRID)

Masjid Touba and Murid Islamic Community in America, Inc.

Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood and the Sisterhood of the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood

Miraj Islamic School and Albanian Islamic Cultural Center

Masjid al-Aqsa
