Who: Join Harlem Mothers SAVE, Elected Officials, Community Activists, African American and Latina Women to stand up against gun violence
What: Candlelight vigil and call for action to stop the violence and slaughter of our children.
Where: 2471 Frederick Douglass Blvd/132nd
When: 5:30 pm, Friday, January 4th
Why: The vigil comes to call attention to the spate of recent shootings in Upper Manhattan. Additionally 26 candles will be lit in honor of the 26 children and adults killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn.
About: Harlem Mothers SAVE (Stop Another Violent End) was established in 2006 by Jackie Rowe Adams, who lost two sons to gun violence with the assistance of NY State Assemblyman Keith Wright. The non-profit organization focuses on activism, victim services and education. April Tyler, a Harlem-based organizer and former Democratic district leader will lead the protest.
