November 2013 Interfaith Center of New York E-Announcements
Dear Friends,
The Muslim-Catholic partnership in Harlem sponsored its first ever Interfaith Recovery Event: “Movin’ With the Spirit,” for which approximately 45 people of various faith backgrounds and neighborhoods gathered at The Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood in Harlem on September 25, 2013 to discuss overcoming addiction. Religious leaders from both Muslim and Catholic communities spoke, including Deacon Ken Radcliffe, Father Victor Emumwen, and Imam Al-Hajj Talib ‘Abdur-Rashid. A separate interfaith panel on October 29th in Brooklyn featured Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, and Jewish perspectives on Hope. It took place at the Kane St. Synagogue on October 29.
In addition, ICNY staff members joined other faith leaders at an October 28th action organized by the New York Immigration Coalition to support immigration reform. To read the New York Daily News article about it, click on https://interfaithcenter.org/archives/6237.
Looking ahead this month, on November 20th, the Interfaith Center’s Director of Education Programs, Henry Goldschmidt, will work with teachers from the Grace Church School in lower Manhattan to bring a group of 60 students to visit the Ganesh Temple, in Flushing, Queens. As always, we are delighted to help young New Yorkers explore the religious diversity of their city.
In our November E-bulletin we list programs offered by The Interfaith Center of New York in November. We also list additional upcoming events that may be of interest to religious leaders in New York. A listing does not imply endorsement.
