ICNY celebrates Attorney Peter L. Zimroth for using his legal skills to further the ideals of justice. As Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, he spearheaded passage of critical legislation and argued successfully in a landmark Supreme Court case admitting women into the city’s private clubs. He now serves as the federal court-appointed monitor of New York City’s “stop and frisk” program, and with his colleagues at Arnold & Porter represents a community of Muslims in Bridgewater, New Jersey who are fighting the township’s attempts to prevent the establishment of a mosque.
