8:00pm Talk and Interactive Q&A with Hibakusha Inosuke Hayasaki
Inosuke Hayasaki was fourteen years old at the time of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. He was working at Mitsubishi Arms Factory when the bomb exploded 1.1 kilometers away. Following orders from his superior, he left the main building and went to one of the machine factories to help with parts repairs. A large pillar sheltered him from the explosion and saved his life, but he was still thrown through the air by the blast winds. His superior died instantly and only two of the thirty-two people working with him at the time survived.
