Date: Saturday, November 1, 2014
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Union Square
On November 1, 2014, the second day of Día de Muertos, children and innocents who have died in the past year will be are remembered in a “Procession for the Innocents.” The Procession starts at 2PM in Union Square and will walk to St. Marks in the Bowery.
This is an opportunity for organizations, groups and individuals from throughout New York City to join together as we keep public conversations going regarding deaths of children and innocent people in the past year. In this Procession we will hold the legacy of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and others who have died due to police brutality. We also have an opportunity to draw further attention to children who have died in Gaza, Israel, Syria and on the border of the United States.
This event is a collaboration between New York organizations – hosted by Mano a Mano: Mexican Culture without Borders in partnership with Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, the Arab American Association of New York and The Interfaith Center of New York. New organizational partners are welcome.
Creativity, artwork and multiple voices are welcome in this event!
