Baba Antonio Mondesire, Awo Ifa, is a nationally respected Ifá priest, spiritual counselor and public speaker in the Yoruba/Lukumi tradition. As a clergy member, he has represented his tradition in a wide range of interfaith venues through invocations, community prayer, and presentations. He is the Interfaith Director – State of New York for the Church of Lukumi Babalú Ayé, an Associate of the Ifa Temple of Los Angeles, and a spiritual activist in his community. In the context of today’s conversation, he is also proud to have completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education, under the standards of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, at Calvary Hospital (a world class palliative care institution in the Bronx). Born in the Bronx, of Puerto Rican and Eastern Caribbean ancestry, the roots of his vocation and activism . . . run deep.

All are welcome to join this exciting conversation! The sacred texts of our diverse faith traditions are much more than simply books on the shelf. In many traditions, clergy and counselors draw on their scriptures to promote holistic healing for individuals and communities. Please join us to explore the transformational power of scripture, in a rich dialogue between Yoruba and Christian scholars and faith leaders. The speakers will be: Dr. Insook Lee and Chief Solagbade Popoola. The program will include time for questions and conversation. It will be introduced by Baba Antonio Mondesire, Awo Ifa, and moderated by Dr. Henry Goldschmidt, Director of Education Programs at the Interfaith Center of New York.
