Last week, a group of African Diaspora clergy and lay leaders met with teachers attending ICNY’s NEH Institute on teaching religious diversity. The meeting began with Vodou priest Houngan Gran Bwa performing a Vévé Ritual – see the first video in the YouTube playlist here. In the subsequent video, Houngan Gran Bwa explains the significance of the symbols used in the Vévé. Then he and other leaders (including Marie Lily Cerat, Iyalorisa Isoke Titilayo Nia, and Baba Antonio Mondesire) talk with the teachers about Vodou and Yoruba faith traditions. The session ends with questions from the teachers.
