Amanda Levering of Harlem Community Justice Center introduces alumni of the “Raising My Voice” program, who speak about their experiences in the prison system and how they established new lives after release. The goals of Raising My Voice are to empower individuals to tell their own stories, to break stereotypes of what it means to be a formerly incarcerated individual, and to give back to communities and become advocates for change. This segment was part of ICNY’s day-long retreat for faith leaders supporting reentry. For more info on this retreat, see https://interfaithcenter.org/archives/9638.
