Annual Peace Lanterns Festival on September 16 in Queens

Date: Saturday, September 16, 2017
Time: 2:00 – 8:30 pm
Location: Gantry Plaza State Park (Center Blvd and 49th Ave., Long Island City, NY 11109 – the first subway stop of #7 in Queens)

All are welcome to the Annual Peace Lanterns Festival sponsored by Buddhist Council of New York and HaborLAB, in partnership with the Interfaith Center of New York and Global Movement for the Culture of Peace. It includes guided meditation, Yoga, free paddling, drawing lanterns, Origami making, face painting, floating lighted lanterns, and more on the East River on U.N. International Day of Peace weekend. This Festival is designed for family, friends and individuals to experience various activities related to Peace.

2:00 – 6:00 pm FREE PADDLING & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: HaborLAB is organizing free Public Paddling, Face Painting, Henna Tattoos, Origami, Seedball making, Afrodancercise, and Lantern Decorating are happening.

2:30 – 6:00 pm MEDITATE NYC: Meditation is the way to bring peace in your mind and nurture the wholesome and healthy mind. This event organized by the Buddhist Council of New is for experienced practitioners as well as those who are new to meditation.

6:30 – 7:30 pm SPEAKERS AND INTERFAITH PEACE PRAYERS

7:30 – 8:30 pm FLOATING PEACE LANTERNS launch on the East River, following the Interfaith prayers.
