Join us for an evening devoted to civil discourse as part of civic identity in America.
The Center for Jewish-Christian-Muslim Understanding, in partnership with the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Milstein Center for Interreligious Dialogue, presents a panel discussion on the evening of Thursday Oct. 24, 2013, at the Greenburgh Hebrew Center, Dobbs Ferry.
It’s not just a matter of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, but it is also how we identify as Americans. How can we strengthen the fabric of the religious identities that make up the great quilt of our democracy?
Guest panelists include Prof. Mary Boys, Union Theological Seminary, Rabbi Burton L. Visotzky, Director, Milstein Center for Interreligious Dialogue, and Dr. Sarah Sayeed, Director of the Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer Retreats for Social Justice, Interfaith Center of New York.
While the panel will be made up of religious leaders, we also recognize and wish to make room for the growing secular voices in our community.
This discussion will move us beyond tolerance of the Other and into a place of genuine understanding through civil, civic discourse.
The presentations will be followed by questions for our panelists.
