CONNECTING FAITH-BASED GROUPS WITH THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CHANGES IN HEALTH INSURANCE FOR YOUR MEMBERS

February 10, 2013 ICNY

Dear Faith Leaders:

You are cordially invited to attend: Faith-Based Round Table on Healthcare on Thursday, February 28, 2013 @ 1:00PM at:

26 Federal Plaza
38th Floor – Conference Room 38-110
New York, NY 10278

Many people turn to their faith leaders as trusted sources of information. When it comes to health and healthcare, people have many questions and may not know where to find support. This round table will focus on federal health insurance programs available to your members, and it will ensure that you have accurate and up-to-date information on health insurance programs. As you are well aware, health insurance can be expensive and difficult to obtain. Some people forgo coverage due to the cost and others rely on emergency rooms for treatment and care. Not having health insurance can lead to costly medical bills and can also be a barrier to people utilizing preventive services. There are options available, however, that your members need to know about to ensure that they can access the health system and stay healthier longer.

At the Regional Office of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, we are available to provide information and resources that can help make it easier to understand health insurance options. We will provide information on Medicare (health insurance for people 65 and older, with a long-term disability, or end-stage renal disease), Medicaid (health insurance for people with limited income), and new options for expansion of health insurance that will soon be available due to the Affordable Care Act.

To register for this Faith-Based Round Table on Healthcare, please visit: http://faithbasedcmsny.eventbrite.com/

We look forward to your participation. If you have any questions or need assistance with registering, please do not hesitate to contact Thomas Bane at Thomas.Bane@cms.hhs.gov or by phone at 212-616-2427.
