The Movement of Migrant Women and their Families will hold a press conference this Wednesday, August 15th, at 12:00 pm, in front of the Cayuga Center (131st st and Park Avenue), to demand that U.S. and Mexican governments stop the violence generated by immigration policies. We will announce the launch of our family reunification campaign: “Families Together Now. It’s My Right.”

Young people that have lived the trauma of family separation for years will announce their upcoming trip to the border to bring their families back. They will demand their right to fill the seat at the dinner table that for years has remained empty. This emptiness has fractured their homes, creating an irreversible impact in each member of their families.

From the bosom of our extended New York family we will share our stories and convene our allies to take a step forward with us. The Movement of Migrant Women will demand our rights in front of the Cayuga Center, where children separated from their parents are detained. This Center represents the most recent phase in the criminalization of migrant families here in NY. It makes visible the kidnapping committed by the U.S. government and its business associates.

This is a moment for taking radical actions. We will not be silent. We shall not live in the shadows. We refuse to wait a moment longer. The trauma is not only the years lived by a child without her mother, a father without his child. The years multiply for each member of the family that lives this separation on both sides of the border. In a family of four, three years of separation is suffered as twelve. One empty chair becomes hundreds.

Join us this Wednesday, August 15, at 12:00, in front of the Cayuga Center (131st  St. and Park Avenue). We will counteract an accumulation of borders with an outpouring of solidarity and support.

Zero tolerance for state violence. “FAMILIES TOGETHER NOW. IT’S MY RIGHT.”

NOW, IT’S MY RIGHT”.

Cero tolerancia a la violencia del Estado ¨FAMILIES TOGETHER NOW, IT’S MY RIGHT”.
