On June 27th, ICNY partnered with the Princeton University Office for Religious Life and international partners including Faiths Forum London, Surrey Multifaith Centre, Jewish Distribution Committee-International Center for Community Development and Cedar to bring together representatives of faith-based relief organizations. The conference was sponsored by the Buncher Foundation and discussed the potential of on-the-ground interfaith partnerships
Held in Church House Conference Center, adjacent to Westminster Abbey in London, the meeting provided opportunity to discuss the challenges, tensions and rewards that arise for faith-based organizations when serving people of diverse religious and non-religious backgrounds. Participants included representatives from major faith-based aid organizations, local faith-based aid organizations that contribute to relief, interfaith experts and religious leaders. Observers included representatives from secular foundations, aid organizations, the United Nations, and scholars of religion, international affairs, and peace-building. Dr. Sarah Sayeed represented ICNY at the conference. A brief video of the conference can be found on Vimeo at Buncher Conference Synopsis.
