MOVIE: Stand Up: Muslim-American Comics Come of Age
It’s an age-old American tradition: immigrant groups take up comedy to fight stereotypes. Five talented Muslim-American comics were faced with a decision to take the safe route, or risk sharing their experiences through humor. “Stand Up” mixes comedy routines and first-person interviews to help give voice to a slice of American culture that has felt obligated to remain silent. Engaging, wise, and truly funny!
A light supper will be served at 6:30 with movie starting promptly at 7:00. Contributions of side dishes, desserts and drinks are welcome. Films are free of charge and open to the public. Each screening will be followed by an opportunity for brief discussion. Sponsored by the Plymouth Interfaith Connection Group.
