May 16, 2022 ICNY

The Interfaith Center of New York is partnering with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and is pleased to invite you and a few others from your respective communities to attend our Maternal Health Summit: “Addressing Maternal Mortality and Maternal Morbidity in New York: A Call to Action!”

When: Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Press Conference:  12 Noon

Where: NYC Health + Hospitals, Metropolitan Hospital Center, 1907 First Avenue (@97th Street), Room 1B85, New York, NY 10029

Confirmed guests include: Dr. Rachel Villanueva, National President, National Medical Association and Clinical Assistant Professor; Dr. Wendy Wilcox, Chief Women’s Health Officer, Office of Medical & Professional Affairs; and, Dr. Brooke Trenton, Medical Director Pediatrics, Ryan Health Community Health Center. We will also hear from a father with lived experience. We’ve also invited Mayor Eric Adams.

As you are aware, the U.S. has one of the highest maternal mortality rates than any other developed nation in the world. New York City has seen an increase. Our goal is to see that the U.S. is one of the safest nations for expectant individuals to give birth. This gathering aims to educate, bring awareness and provide tools and resources for faith and community to increase support for expectant individuals.

Please let us know if you are able to join us by emailing Susan.Wu@hhs.gov.
