DATA-ENTRY/DATABASE INTERN

The Interfaith Center of New York (ICNY) is a secular non-profit educational organization. Our goal is to create understanding and respect among the different religious groups of New York City as well as to promote civic engagement among members of all faiths.

Hours: Part-time (12-15 hours per week), $12/hour

Start date: Immediately

Job Description:

The ICNY database consists of over 6,400 entries including names of donors, religious leaders, and friends of ICNY.   The database intern would work primarily on updating existing files with most recent contact information paying particular attention to the correctness of the data fields used for the USPS mailing label. In some cases, this will involve telephoning individuals directly or searching for them through public databases.  Additionally, whenever possible, the intern would identify and add email addresses.

The ideal candidate is a college student who is focused and self-motivated, has a high level of attention to detail, extremely accurate, quick typing speed, and the ability to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer.

Qualifications:

  • Experience using File Maker Pro or other database programs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with free internet directory search engines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good level of computer proficiency
  • The ability to work on a deadline
  • Ability to work independently
  • College student preferred; high school graduate with strong office skills
