The Interfaith Center of New York concurs with Religions for Peace’s recent statement that, “while human conflict may be inevitable in our world, war and violence are not . . [and that] peace is a matter of choice.”
For this reason we join people of faith and good will around the world in condemning the decision by Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Russia’s neighbor, the Ukraine. We decry the loss of life the invasion has already produced. We dread the needless creation of another wave of refugees who will uproot their lives and begin again far from home. We invite New Yorkers to join in prayers for peace and humanitarian actions that seek to alleviate suffering.
