THE FIRST AMENDMENT PROTECTS FREEDOM OF SPEECH FOR ALL PEOPLE, AND GUARANTEES THE RIGHT TO PEACEFULLY ASSEMBLE
On Tuesday, August 14th at 9am the Second Circuit will hear an appeal in a very important First Amendment Case. Lawyers will argue that Ravi Ragbir has been targeted for deportation because he is an activist leader and that deporting him is therefore a violation of his First Amendment Rights, guaranteed to ALL the people.
At 11am, following the hearing, there will be a press conference in Foley Square. We will hear from the lawyers, updating us on the case and then from the plaintiffs.
Beginning at 12pm, after the press conference we are inviting all to participate in our “International Brown Bag Lunch”. We want as many people as possible to join us at and break bread together in support of Ravi and all other immigrants. Bring a lunch in a brown bag, we will provide stickers for you to decorate. We will use the People’s mic to recite the First Amendment as loud as we possibly can.
