Thursday, June 23, 5:30 – 7:00 pm, at Judson Memorial Church,
55 Washington Square South
In solidarity with the LGBTQ community, Women for Afghan Women, the South Asian Lesbian and Gay Association, Sakhi for South Asian Women, and the Dar al-Taqwa Islamic Center have joined forces to convene a public forum and town hall meeting to discuss the heinous mass shooting that took place at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
The Interfaith Center of New York is honored to participate in this important forum, and we hope you will join the conversation too. Let’s work together to build bridges among New York’s LGBTQ, Muslim, and South Asian communities. Hate is not the answer to hate, and Islamophobia is not the answer to homophobia.
Speakers will include representatives of Judson Memorial Church, Women for Afghan Women, Dar al-Taqwa Islamic Center, Afghan American Artists and Writers Association, South Asian Lesbian and Gay Association, Turning Point for Women and Families, Interfaith Center of New York, Sakhi for South Asian Women, New York City Veterans Alliance, and the New York City Council. The panel will be moderated by Arun Venugopal, of WNYC.
